Check it before every lift
Train every user, and have a rescue plan ready before anyone works at height.
- Before each use: check the casing, the anchorage-eye swivel, the full length of the lifeline as you pull it out, the hook gate and the load indicator.
- Test the brake with a sharp pull on the lifeline: it must lock at once.
- If the load indicator has deployed, or the block has arrested a fall, withdraw it and send it for service.
- Let the lifeline retract under control. Never let it run back on its own.
- Anchor overhead, to an anchor rated for fall arrest, and allow clear space below the worker for the arrest distance plus harness stretch and a margin.
- Have a competent person examine the block periodically as your regulations require. Ask us for the inspection checklist.
