How fall protection works

Anchor, body, connect, and a rescue plan

Every part has to be rated for the job and compatible with the rest. We'll help you build the system, not just sell a part.

Anchor

A point rated to hold a fall: a structural anchor, a fixed lifeline or a portable anchor.

Body

A full body harness spreads the arrest force across the thighs, pelvis and chest.

Connect

A retractable block or energy-absorbing lanyard links the two and limits the force.

Rescue

A plan and equipment to reach a suspended worker quickly.

Fall arrester blocks

Retractable lifelines from 2 to 20 metres

Choose by lifeline (stainless, galvanised or webbing), length and where it will be anchored. Need rescue too? The retrieval block has a built-in winch.

IronCladeX retractable block anchored above a worker on a tanker gantry
Why a block

Freedom to move, and a short fall

A retractable block pays out and reels in its lifeline as the worker moves, and locks within a short distance if they fall. The three overhead series share the same EN 360:2002 test result.

  • Under 6 kN braking force and under 2 m arrest distance (100 kg, 600 mm free fall)
  • 13 kN static strength for 3 minutes
  • Swivel anchorage eye and a load indicator on every hook
  • The Mini block is also rated for foot-level anchorage and sharp edges

FAQ

Common questions

Can't find what you need? Call +91 8340 84 84 84 or write to info@jarshsafety.com.

Which harness should I choose?
Pick by the work. Confined space and ladders: Pro-Guard PGH-01. General fall arrest: PGH-02 or EssentiA™. Hi-vis sites: the PGH-04 Jacket Harness. Towers, rescue and rope access: PGH-05 (also as sets PGH-19 and PGH-18). Where static discharge is a hazard: PGH-07(AS). Near electrical hazards: PGH-03 (DE), or Kavach™ Dielectric for live-line work with voltage detection.
What happened to the Kavach Confined Space Harness?
It is now the Pro-Guard Confined Space Harness PGH-01, matching its data sheet. Kavach™ is the name of our dielectric smart harness.
Which block length do I need?
The shortest one that reaches the whole work area from the anchor. Longer lifelines let the worker move further but can increase the swing in a fall. Tell us the anchor height and work area and we'll recommend a length.
Can I anchor a block at foot level?
Only the Mini Fall Arrester Block, which is tested for horizontal and foot-level use (fall factor 2) to VG11 RFU 11.060. Anchor the other blocks overhead.
Which block is for hazardous areas?
The IronCladeX ATEX block (EX-FASS). We supply the Ex marking and ATEX certificate with your quotation so you can check them against your zone classification before you order.
What do I need for rescue?
A written rescue plan, and the equipment to carry it out: a descent device, a tripod or davit with a winch or retrieval block, and trained people. See Rescue & Retrieval and Safety Kits.
How often should harnesses and blocks be inspected?
Before every use by the user, and periodically by a competent person as your regulations require. Withdraw anything that has arrested a fall. Ask us for inspection checklists.
Do you supply in bulk and work with dealers?
Yes. For site kits and volume orders, request a quote. To stock the range, apply to become a dealer.
